Amazon Authenticity Crackdown in Late 2025: How Serious Sellers Prove They Belong

Amazon has entered a strict enforcement phase on authenticity and sourcing. Sellers are seeing “inauthentic” and stolen goods violations even when their invoices are real. The difference now is Amazon’s higher verification threshold under its updated invoice and Stolen Goods Policy (Amazon Seller Central).

Why Authenticity Matters More Than Ever

Since mid-2025, Amazon has tightened its verification rules. Invoices must be dated within 365 days, issued by verifiable or authorized suppliers, and list the exact SKUs and quantities that match FBA or FBM sales.

Sellers relying on gray-market distributors, screenshots, or missing supplier details are failing reviews. Each rejection can block new listings, remove active ASINs, and freeze large balances until lawful sourcing is proven.

Common Authenticity Failure Patterns

  1. Expired Invoices – Any invoice older than 365 days is rejected.

  2. Unverifiable Suppliers – Amazon cannot confirm contact details or business registration.

  3. Mismatched Quantities – Invoice volumes differ from FBA receipts or sales reports.

  4. Missing Required Fields – Invoices without dates, addresses, or SKU details are deemed incomplete.

  5. Gray-Market Purchases – Buying from non-authorized resellers triggers “suspected stolen goods” flags.

How to Build a Compliant Authenticity Record

Step 1 – Gather Proper Invoices
Use original, non-editable PDFs directly from authorized suppliers. Confirm they show date, address, phone, SKU, quantity, and payment proof.

Step 2 – Verify Your Suppliers
Confirm each supplier has a working website, tax registration, and public business address. Keep copies of these proofs in your file.

Step 3 – Match to Amazon Records
Reconcile invoice quantities with shipment IDs, check-in scans, and ASIN listings. Discrepancies trigger further review.

Step 4 – Add Chain of Custody and Authorization
If you are a reseller, include brand or distributor authorization letters. For private-label sellers, add manufacturing contracts and packaging photos.

Step 5 – Prepare Your Appeal
When submitting through Account Health, write a brief narrative explaining your sourcing and attach all verification materials. Refer to the Stolen Goods Policy language directly to demonstrate awareness of compliance requirements.

When Amazon Still Refuses to Reinstate

Sometimes, compliant submissions stall without explanation. In that case:

  • Request a case escalation citing the invoice policy page above.

  • If your funds remain frozen, send a formal demand referencing the Business Solutions Agreement.

  • When Amazon ignores a complete packet, the next step is AAA arbitration to compel reinstatement and release of withheld balances.
